'PrinCeSs' Mixed Media Art Frame...

♥ ♥ ♥
hello!

heres another of my Mixed Media pieces id like to share with you, showing some photos of the stages and process of making the piece...

here goes...

i started off with a pink plastic ornate frame, which was the inspiration to make a 'pink princess' piece! i removed the glass [as it was going to be very dimensional and 3D, so i knew i wouldnt need it] and stuck some letters, a metal butterfly, some teeny fabric flowers and a plastic key with a plastic butterfly on it straight to the front of the wooden back of the frame and covered with a few layers of gesso...
then i started the process of adding numerous layers of paints and sprays:
i added some pink glittery nail varnish to some of the elements.
then, i added some gold leaf in two corners, and painted over the middle 'princess' section to make it stand out a bit more. i also added a paper 'happy' banner [as i didnt like those white 'swirl' things] and some pink gems. i then attached two sweet little white metal butterflies, one of which can be removed, as its stuck to a magnet.
then, i added some white gesso to the middle section, as it looked too dark when i put it in the frame. .
AAAAND, here it is, all framed up and looking pretty, do u see that AWESOME gold crown!? i added it to hide the bottom 'swirl' and i gold leaf-ed it myself, eeee! <3
i hope you all LOVE this piece as much as i do, and if you do, good news, its FOR SALE! message/comment me for prices and shipping/postage info if you are interested in this piece for yourself or your little Princess!

'SanD in mY Toes' Mixed Media Canvas...

hello all, hope youre well!

after i made my 'BeACh' mixed media canvas [see my recent post], i asked in a local seaside cafe if i could display the piece on the wall, as i thought it went well with the location, and the seaside/beach theme they have in the cafe, and they said i could, which was great, and theres always different art on the walls every month.

i set about creating another mixed media piece to go alongside the 'BeACh' canvas, and i also wanted this one to have a beach/seaside theme, so i decided on 'SanD' as a theme and set about making it...

plastic, paper and metal elements, on. gesso layer, on. homemade 'sandy' paint spray, on.
then, some watercolours...
can u see the different layers of paints, sprays and watercolours...!? [see a sneaky layer of drippy blue watercolour, too!?] also, GESSO 'BUBBLES' :)
then, i added some gesso to the middle section with the letters as i wanted them to stand out a bit more...
... and some drippy glue layers.
then the fun bit, i added LOADS of buttons, beads, pearls, gems and real shells to the canvas:
so, what do you think of the finished piece!? both canvases are now on display in the cafe, but if they dont sell after a month, they will be available to buy, so if youre interesed in this 'SanD' canvas OR the 'BeACh' one, please comment on either blog post, or contact me via twitter or Facebook [links below] and ill let u know if theyre still available. i also LOVE doing custom mixed media pieces, so take a look at my previous blog posts, twitter, facebook and instagram for photos, details etc.

#MixedMedia Canvas: "Life is BetTer aT the BeACh"

... it is, so they say! and i live on the coast [pretty much] so, yeah!

ok, so here it is, my second Mixed Media canvas, and i so LOVED doing this one. my bestie gave me the canvas, as she'd had it in her downstairs loo, but got a new framed print to go in there instead, so gave the old one to me, i KNEW i wanted to use it for a mixed media piece, so i set about creating my latest masterpiece. WARNING: this post will be VERY photo-heavy, so be warned, and stay with me!

from start to finish:

like i said, i started with an existing canvas of some rocks/pebbles in the shape of a heart. i then added some letter stickers, glass pebbles and a metal anchor charm [i ran out of the letters i needed and had to get more, d'oh]
then, i added a few layers of gesso to the whole of the inside of the heart design on the canvas
then, the fun part, i used acrylics and watercolours to create washes of paint/colour on my canvas...

more blue colour washes...

i then wanted to try a 'salt' watercolour technique id seen online. i like it, it gives a bit of a different effect and texture.
i then wanted to add some gesso 'bubbles' and went a bit mad with them, but, i like the finished look, BUBBLES!

then, i added some more gesso to the glass pebbles, as some of the gesso/paint layers had come off, meaning you could see the glass underneath, i also added some gesso to two corners of the canvas. i also added a bit more of the blue washes to make another layer 'over' some of the gesso 'bubbles'.
HERE is the final canvas, with LOADS of added beads, gems, buttons, pearls and SHELLS, real little shells, so pretty!

and, some photos with a FLASH! :)

well, i hope you can see the amount of time and effort thats gone into my latest canvas, and above all, the LOVE thats gone into it. i have really LOVED making this one!
the canvas is for sale, just comment here, or send me a message on twitter or facebook [links below]
